Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Victorian Empire Lampshade is straightforward due to its thoughtful design:
- Unpack Carefully: Remove the lampshade from its packaging, ensuring not to snag the velvet or tassels.
- Determine Orientation: Decide if you will use it as a pendant (hanging from the ceiling) or on a table/floor lamp base.
- Adjust Gimbal: The lampshade features a *reversible gimbal*. If using as a pendant, the wider opening faces downwards. If using on a lamp base, the wider opening faces upwards. Simply push the central fitting mechanism through to reverse its orientation if needed.
- Attach to Lamp: Place the lampshade's fitting ring onto your lamp holder.
- Use Reducer Ring: If your lamp fitting is smaller than the lampshade's central ring, insert the provided *shade reducer ring* into the lampshade's fitting to secure it snugly to your lamp's smaller fitting (B22/BC, E14/SES, E27/ES).
- Install Bulb: Screw in your chosen light bulb (maximum 11W) into the lamp holder.
Compatibility
This lampshade is highly compatible with a variety of light fixtures:
- Lamp Types: Suitable for use as a *hanging pendant shade* or on *table/floor lamp bases*.
- Light Fittings: Compatible with B22/BC (Bayonet Cap), E14/SES (Small Edison Screw), and E27/ES (Edison Screw) bulb holders, thanks to the included reducer ring.
- Bulb Wattage: Designed for bulbs with a maximum wattage of 11W. LED bulbs are recommended for energy efficiency and longevity.
Care
To keep your velvet lampshade looking its best:
- Dusting: Gently dust the velvet fabric and tassels regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner.
- Spot Cleaning: For small marks on the velvet, lightly dab with a damp cloth. Avoid rubbing aggressively, as this can crush the pile of the velvet. Use only water; harsh chemicals can damage the fabric.
- Tassel Care: If tassels become tangled, gently untangle them with your fingers. Avoid pulling forcefully.
- Storage: If storing, keep the lampshade in its original packaging or a protective bag to prevent dust accumulation and damage to the velvet and tassels.
