Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your Puma Ultra 5 Ultimate FG boots is straightforward:
- Lacing: Ensure laces are securely fastened. The lightweight design benefits from a snug fit for optimal performance and lockdown.
- Break-in Period: While comfortable from the start due to Ortholite cushioning, a short break-in period during light training sessions is recommended to fully adapt the boots to your foot shape.
Compatibility
- Playing Surface: These boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG). This refers to natural grass pitches that are firm and dry. Using them on artificial grass (AG), soft ground (SG), or indoor surfaces is not recommended as it can compromise performance, traction, and the longevity of the studs and soleplate.
- Player Type: Ideal for speed-focused players, wingers, and forwards who prioritize quick acceleration, agile movements, and precise ball control.
Care
Proper care extends the lifespan and maintains the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning After Use: Immediately after each use, clean off any dirt, mud, or grass from the upper and soleplate using a soft brush or damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not dry them near direct heat sources like radiators or in direct sunlight, as this can damage the materials and cause cracking.
- Storage: Store the boots in a cool, dry place, ideally in a boot bag to protect them from dust and damage. Placing shoe trees inside can help maintain their shape.
- Stud Inspection: Regularly check the studs for wear and tear, especially if playing on particularly abrasive firm ground. Worn studs will reduce traction.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Never machine wash your football boots, as this can severely damage the materials, adhesives, and overall structure.
