FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for flat feet?
The Guide 19 is known for its supportive nature, which often benefits those who need extra structure, though individual needs vary by pronation type.
How long should these trainers last?
Generally, running trainers should be replaced every 300 to 500 miles depending on usage, running surface, and individual gait.
Can I put these in the washing machine?
No, machine washing can damage the foam and structural components. Hand cleaning with a damp cloth is recommended.
Are these true to size?
Saucony trainers typically fit true to standard athletic sizing, but it is recommended to have a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe.
Are these good for the gym?
Yes, they provide enough cushioning for treadmill work and general gym activities, though they are optimized for forward-motion running and walking.
Troubleshooting
Shoes feel tight after prolonged wear
Feet naturally swell during activity; try loosening the laces mid-run or ensuring you are wearing moisture-wicking socks to reduce friction.
Slipping at the heel
Try using the 'runner's loop' or 'heel lock' lacing technique to secure the foot more firmly within the collar of the shoe.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent long-distance cushioning
- High level of durability for daily training
- Balanced stability and flexibility
- Soft, comfortable step-in feel
Cons
- Substantial foam stack may feel too high for some runners
- Heavier than competitive racing-specific models
- Limited suitability for technical trail terrain
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Saucony Guide 19 trainers, proper maintenance is essential. Always untie the laces fully before removing the shoes to prevent heel counter damage. If the shoes become wet, air dry them naturally at room temperature, keeping them away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can degrade the foam integrity. If the exterior gets dirty, use a soft-bristled brush or a damp cloth with mild soap; do not submerge the shoes or machine wash them, as this can weaken the adhesives and synthetic materials.
