FAQs
Is the Gel-Cumulus 27 suitable for a marathon?
Yes, its focus on comfort and energy return makes it a popular choice for long-distance training and marathon-distance events.
Does this shoe provide arch support?
It is a neutral shoe, meaning it is designed for runners with normal pronation. It provides standard support but lacks the rigid medial post found in stability shoes.
Can I use these for gym workouts?
While excellent for running, they are primarily designed for forward motion. They may feel slightly unstable during heavy lateral movements like side-to-side lunges.
How many kilometers should these last?
Typically, these shoes provide optimal cushioning and structural integrity for between 500 and 800 kilometers, depending on your weight, running surface, and gait.
Is the sizing true to standard UK measurements?
The ASICS Gel-Cumulus 27 generally follows standard sizing, though the jacquard mesh provides a slightly more accommodating fit than stiffer, structured uppers.
Troubleshooting
Feeling of discomfort under the arch
Check if your factory sockliner has shifted or if your personal orthotic is positioned correctly.
Upper material feels tight
Experiment with different lacing techniques, such as the 'window lacing' method, to relieve pressure on the top of the foot.
Slipping in the heel
Use the extra eyelet at the top of the shoe to perform a 'runner's loop' or 'heel lock' lacing for a more secure fit.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Gel-Cumulus 27 trainers, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Fitting: Ensure you have a thumb-width of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe.
- Cleaning: Hand wash only using lukewarm water and mild soap. Remove the sockliner to dry separately.
- Drying: Air dry away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as high heat can warp the cushioning foam.
- Rotation: Allow the midsole foam to fully recover for 24 hours between long runs by alternating with another pair if possible.
- Compatibility: These are neutral shoes; if you wear custom orthotics, ensure you remove the factory-installed sockliner before inserting your own.
