The PUMA Deviate Nitro 4 is designed for male runners seeking to enhance their speed during tempo runs and races. Its key benefit is its enhanced speed and energy return, making it 15g lighter than its predecessor. A potential caveat is its maximum cushioning, which may not suit runners preferring a minimalist feel. This high-performance shoe features advanced NITROFOAM™ technology, a breathable engineered mesh upper, and a carbon composite PWRPLATE for superior propulsion and multi-surface traction via its PUMAGRIP outsole. The upper is constructed with at least 20% recycled materials, offering a sustainable choice.

The primary advantage is its enhanced speed and energy return, achieved through lighter materials and advanced NITROFOAM™ technology, making it faster than its predecessor.
Yes, the maximum cushioning and energy return make them suitable for marathon distances, especially for runners who prefer a responsive feel and want to maintain a fast pace.
Neutral pronation means your foot rolls inward a healthy amount upon landing. These shoes are designed to support that natural motion without overcorrecting.
The carbon composite PWRPLATE is designed to provide a lever effect, offering propulsion and making your stride more efficient, especially during faster running efforts.
While the PUMAGRIP outsole offers multi-surface traction, these shoes are primarily designed for road running. They can handle light, well-maintained trails but may not offer sufficient protection or grip for technical terrain.
The shoe weighs approximately 250g for a size UK8, making it significantly lighter than its predecessor.
A regular width is standard for most athletic shoes. If you have very wide or narrow feet, you might experience discomfort. Consider trying them on or checking reviews specific to width if you have concerns.
Gently brush off loose dirt with a soft brush. For stains, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water. Avoid machine washing or high-pressure water.
Ensure you are running on appropriate surfaces (roads, tracks) and that your gait is neutral. Significant uneven wear might indicate a need for a gait analysis.
Check lacing for proper tightness. Ensure you are wearing appropriate running socks. If the issue persists, the shoe's width or fit may not be suitable for your foot.
Midsole cushioning naturally degrades with mileage. Consider replacing the shoes after approximately 300-500 miles of use, depending on wear patterns and individual weight.
The PWRPLATE can feel firm initially. Break in the shoes gradually with shorter runs before using them for long distances or races.
Setup: The PUMA Deviate Nitro 4 trainers are ready to wear out of the box. Ensure they are laced correctly for a secure and comfortable fit. The regular width is designed to accommodate most adult foot shapes. The rounded toe box provides ample room for toes.
Compatibility: These trainers are designed for neutral pronation and are best suited for road running and track surfaces. They are compatible with most standard running sock types.
