Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the most out of your PUMA Future 8 Match FG/AG boots involves proper initial setup, understanding their compatibility, and consistent care.
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure your boots are laced snugly but not too tightly. Start from the bottom eyelets and work your way up, pulling evenly. A secure fit prevents your foot from sliding inside the boot, reducing friction and improving comfort and control. Experiment with different lacing styles if you experience pressure points.
- Break-In Period: Like most high-performance football boots, these may require a short break-in period. Wear them for light training sessions or walks before a full match to allow the materials to mold to your foot.
Compatibility
- Surfaces: These boots are designed for Firm Ground (FG), which typically includes natural grass pitches that are dry and firm, and Artificial Ground (AG), referring to synthetic turf pitches. The stud configuration provides a balance of traction and durability for both surfaces.
- Avoid: While versatile, avoid using these boots on very soft, muddy natural grass, or abrasive surfaces like concrete or asphalt, as this can damage the studs and outsole.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning After Each Use: After every session, remove loose dirt and mud from the upper and soleplate using a soft brush or old toothbrush. Wipe the upper with a damp cloth.
- Drying: Allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can cause the materials to crack or stiffen. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, ideally in a boot bag to protect them from dust and damage.
- Inspection: Regularly check the studs for wear and tear. Damaged or worn studs can compromise grip and increase the risk of injury.
