Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The Salomon XT-6 GTX features the signature Quicklace system for a fast and secure fit:
- To Tighten: Pull the thin lace end up and out of the lace lock mechanism until the shoe feels snug. Ensure the lace is evenly distributed across the foot.
- To Secure: Push the lace lock down until it clicks, holding the lace in place. Stow any excess lace into the lace pocket located on the shoe's tongue.
- To Loosen: Press the release button on the lace lock and pull the lace through the mechanism.
Compatibility
These shoes are highly compatible with:
- Terrain: Ideal for varied terrains, including technical trails, loose gravel, muddy paths, and urban pavements.
- Weather: Excellent for wet, damp, and cool conditions due to GORE-TEX waterproofing. Suitable for all seasons where weather protection is desired.
- Activities: Best suited for trail running, hiking, fast-packing, walking, and everyday casual wear in challenging environments.
- Clothing: Pairs well with outdoor technical apparel, sportswear, and contemporary casual outfits.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your Salomon XT-6 GTX shoes:
- Cleaning: After use, especially on muddy trails, gently brush off loose dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a soft brush or cloth with lukewarm water and a mild soap (avoid harsh detergents). Do not machine wash.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the GORE-TEX membrane and other materials. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help retain shape.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: While GORE-TEX is inherently waterproof, the outer textile upper may benefit from periodic treatment with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray to maintain its water-shedding properties.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
