Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Loosen Laces: Before putting on, fully loosen the laces to create ample space.
- Utilize U-Throat: Take advantage of the `U-throat collar` design, which is made for easier entry, gently guiding your foot in.
- Adjust & Lace: Once your foot is comfortably inside, tighten the laces evenly from the bottom upwards. Ensure the fit is snug across your foot, but not uncomfortably tight, securing a `locked-in fit`.
- Check Fit: Walk around to ensure there are no pressure points and your heel is secure.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG) surfaces. This means they are best suited for:
- Dry, Natural Grass Pitches: Where the ground is firm and offers good resistance for the studs.
They are not recommended for:
- Artificial grass (AG) pitches.
- Soft ground (SG) pitches (muddy or wet conditions).
- Indoor surfaces.
Using them on incompatible surfaces can lead to accelerated wear, reduced performance, and potential injury.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your leather boots:
- Clean After Each Use: Immediately after playing, wipe off dirt and debris with a damp cloth. Use a soft brush for stubborn dirt on the outsole and studs.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use strong detergents or solvents, as these can damage the leather.
- Dry Naturally: Remove excess moisture with a clean towel and allow the boots to air dry at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, which can crack and harden the leather.
- Maintain Leather: For the cow leather forefoot, consider using a specialized leather conditioner or cream periodically to keep the material supple and prevent drying or cracking.
- Store Properly: Store boots in a cool, dry place, ideally with boot trees or crumpled newspaper inside to help maintain their shape.
- Check Studs: Regularly inspect the studs for wear and tear, ensuring they provide optimal traction.
