Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your Canterbury Stampede Groundbreak Elite boots is straightforward:
- Lacing: Utilize the traditional lace-up design to secure the boot. Ensure the laces are tightened evenly across your foot for a snug yet comfortable fit. The winged neoprene tongue will naturally conform to your foot, providing a secure lockdown.
- First Wear: It's advisable to wear your new boots for a short training session or walk before a full match to allow them to break in and adapt to your foot shape.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically engineered for:
- Ground Type: Soft, natural grass pitches. They excel in wet and muddy conditions where deep traction is required. They are not recommended for firm ground or artificial turf as this can damage the studs and compromise performance.
- Player Type: Ideal for rugby forwards (props, hookers, second rows, back rows) or any player who prioritizes power, stability, and grip in contact situations.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning After Use: Immediately after each use, remove as much mud and debris as possible. Use a brush (a dedicated boot brush or old toothbrush works well) to clean the outsole and studs. Wipe the upper with a damp cloth.
- Stubborn Mud: For caked-on mud, rinse the boots under lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water as it can damage the materials.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not force dry them with direct heat (e.g., radiators, hairdryers) as this can cause the materials to crack or stiffen. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Stud Inspection: Regularly inspect the studs for wear and tear. On soft ground boots, studs can wear down or become loose. Replace any damaged or excessively worn studs promptly to maintain optimal grip and prevent injury.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Using a boot bag can protect them during transport.
