Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon receiving your Canterbury Stampede Groundbreak Elite SG boots, it's essential to perform a quick check:
- Inspect Studs: Ensure all eight 18mm metal studs are securely tightened. Occasionally, studs can loosen during transit. A stud spanner (often sold separately) is recommended for this.
- First Wear: Wear your boots for a short period off the pitch to begin breaking them in. This helps the materials, especially the Ortholite footbed and TPU upper, conform to your foot shape.
- Lacing: Experiment with different lacing tensions to find the most secure yet comfortable fit for your foot, utilizing the Winged Stretch Net tongue for optimal lockdown.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for Soft Ground (SG) conditions. They feature long, metal studs that provide maximum grip on wet, muddy, or natural grass pitches. They are not recommended for use on firm ground (FG), artificial grass (AG), or indoor courts, as this can damage the studs, outsole, and potentially cause injury due to excessive grip or lack of flexibility.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially on muddy pitches, clean your boots. Use a brush to remove loose dirt and mud, then wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing.
- Drying: Allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources (like radiators or direct sunlight), as this can cause materials to crack or shrink.
- Stud Maintenance: Regularly check and tighten your metal studs. Loose studs can fall out during play or cause an uneven platform. Replace worn or damaged studs as needed.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Consider using boot trees or stuffing them with newspaper to help maintain their shape.
