Setup, Compatibility & Care
First Use and Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the classic lacing system is snug but not overly tight. Start from the bottom and work your way up, pulling evenly on the laces to distribute pressure. A properly laced boot will feel secure around your foot and ankle without restricting circulation.
- Break-in: New walking boots often require a short break-in period. Wear them for shorter walks initially to allow the materials to soften and conform to your foot shape. This helps prevent discomfort on longer excursions.
Compatibility
These boots are designed for a wide range of trail walking and hiking activities. They are compatible with standard hiking socks, which are recommended for moisture-wicking and blister prevention. The robust Dynagrip outsole is suitable for various natural surfaces including dirt trails, gravel paths, and light rocky terrain.
Care and Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and performance of your Karrimor Hot Rock Walking Boots, follow these care instructions:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially if muddy, clean the boots. Use a soft brush and water to remove dirt from the upper and the outsole. For stubborn mud in the lugs, a stiffer brush can be used. Avoid harsh detergents.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, fireplaces), as this can damage the materials and waterproof lining. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: While the boots feature a waterproof lining, regularly treating the outer material with a suitable waterproofing spray or wax designed for outdoor footwear can help maintain the water repellency of the outer surface and prolong the life of the boot.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
