Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Prepare Your Pole: Ensure your curtain pole is securely installed above your window frame. It should extend beyond the window by at least 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) on each side to allow the curtains to stack back fully when open.
- Unpack Curtains: Carefully remove the curtains from their packaging. It's often helpful to allow them to hang for a day or two to let gravity ease out minor creases from packing.
- Thread Eyelets: Begin threading the eyelets onto your curtain pole. Alternate the direction of the first eyelet so that the leading edge of the curtain faces inwards towards the window when closed.
- Even Spacing: Once all eyelets are on the pole, adjust the fabric evenly between each eyelet to create a consistent, natural wave or ripple effect.
- Position: Slide the curtains to your desired position.
Compatibility
These eyelet curtains are specifically designed for use with standard curtain poles. They are not typically compatible with traditional curtain tracks or rails. Ensure your curtain pole's diameter is suitable for the eyelet rings to glide smoothly.
Care
To maintain the beauty and longevity of your 100% cotton, fully lined curtains, follow these care instructions:
- Washing: Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle using cold water (30°C or less). Use a mild, color-safe detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals or bleach, as these can damage the fabric and fade colors.
- Drying: Line dry immediately after washing. If using a tumble dryer, select a low heat setting and remove promptly to minimize wrinkles and prevent excessive shrinkage. Avoid direct sunlight when drying to prevent color fading.
- Ironing: Iron on a medium heat setting while the fabric is slightly damp, or use a steam iron. Always iron on the reverse side of the curtain to protect the patterned fabric. Use a pressing cloth if concerned about direct heat.
- Professional Cleaning: For best results and to preserve the integrity of the lining and fabric over time, periodic professional dry cleaning is recommended.
- Shrinkage: As with most natural cotton products, a slight initial shrinkage (typically 3-5%) may occur after the first wash. Follow care instructions precisely to minimize this.
- Regular Maintenance: Gently vacuum or shake out curtains regularly to remove dust and maintain freshness.
