FAQs
Are these shoes suitable for running?
The Gel-NYC 2 is primarily designed for lifestyle and everyday walking. While comfortable, they are not intended for long-distance running or high-impact athletic training.
How should I clean the black upper material?
Wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid machine washing or drying, as high heat and agitation can damage the structural adhesives.
Is the sizing consistent?
Yes, these are standard UK size 9. If you are between sizes, consider trying them on with the specific socks you intend to wear.
Can I replace the insoles?
Yes, the stock insoles are removable and can be replaced with custom orthotics if preferred.
What is the primary benefit of the Gel technology?
The signature Gel technology provides localized shock absorption to help minimize impact force on joints during daily wear.
Troubleshooting
Visible dirt on the mesh upper
Use a soft-bristled brush to gently remove dry dirt before wiping with a damp cloth.
Sensation of reduced cushioning
Check the interior for debris or worn insoles; consider replacing the sockliner if the original has compressed significantly.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your ASICS Gel-NYC 2 trainers maintain their performance, follow these care guidelines:
- Initial Fit: Ensure the size 9 UK fit matches your foot shape; the breathable upper is designed to contour to your foot over time.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap to wipe down the exterior. Avoid submerging the shoes in water or using harsh chemical cleaners, as this can degrade the specialized materials.
- Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can warp the cushioning components.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture buildup and maintain the freshness of the interior linings.
