Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Before your first wear, ensure the laces are threaded correctly and evenly. Lace them snugly from bottom to top, allowing for a comfortable but secure fit. Avoid over-tightening, which can restrict blood flow and cause discomfort.
- Initial Wear: Wear the boots for short periods, perhaps during warm-ups or light training sessions, to help them mold to your foot shape. This 'break-in' period is common for boots with engineered leather uppers.
Compatibility
- Surface: These boots are designed exclusively for Firm Ground (FG) pitches. This refers to natural grass fields that are dry to slightly damp. Using them on artificial grass (AG) can cause excessive wear to the soleplate and may void warranties. Using them on soft ground (SG) will provide insufficient traction.
- Fit: Ensure you select the correct size. The microfiber lining and full lace closure are designed to provide a premium and secure fit once you have the right size.
Care
Maintaining your Nike Tiempo Legend 10 Academy boots will prolong their lifespan and performance:
- Clean After Every Use: Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) or damp cloth to remove mud and dirt from the upper and soleplate. For stubborn mud, a light spray of water can help.
- Avoid Submerging: Do not soak the boots in water, as this can damage the engineered leather.
- Air Dry: Always allow your boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can cause the leather to crack or stiffen.
- Stuffing: You can stuff the boots with newspaper or paper towels to help absorb moisture from the inside and maintain their shape during drying.
- Leather Conditioning (Optional): For the engineered leather, a specialized leather conditioner can be used periodically to keep the material supple and prevent drying, following the product's instructions. Info needed: [Consult specific product label for any brand-recommended care products.]
- Storage: Store them in a cool, dry place, ideally in a boot bag to protect them from dust and damage.
