Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure boots are laced firmly but not overly tight. Use the hook eyelets to create a secure, custom fit that supports your ankle without restricting circulation. Experiment with different lacing techniques to find what's most comfortable for your foot shape.
- Socks: Wear appropriate hiking socks. Moisture-wicking materials are recommended to enhance the breathable qualities of the Weathertite upper and prevent blisters.
- Break-in Period: Like most walking boots, the Skiddaw boots may benefit from a short break-in period. Wear them for shorter walks initially to allow the materials to conform to your feet before tackling longer treks.
Compatibility
These boots are compatible with a wide range of outdoor activities, including day hikes, multi-day treks, leisurely walks on varied terrain, and general outdoor use. They are suitable for adult male users and perform well in diverse weather conditions due to their waterproof and breathable design.
Care Instructions
To maintain the performance and longevity of your Karrimor Skiddaw Walking Boots:
- Cleaning: Wipe clean with a damp cloth after each use to remove dirt and mud. For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush.
- Drying: Always air dry your boots naturally. Ensure they are placed in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources (like radiators or open fires) as excessive heat can damage the materials and waterproof membrane. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb internal moisture and help them retain their shape.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Do not machine wash your boots, as this can severely damage the Weathertite membrane, midsole, and overall structure.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Over time, the outer durable water repellent (DWR) coating may wear off. Consider applying a suitable waterproofing treatment periodically to maintain the water-repellent properties of the outer material, always following the product manufacturer's instructions.
