Product Information

Full details

The North Face Teen Nimble Jacket is designed for active youth who need a versatile, lightweight outer layer for hiking, sports, or daily school commutes in transitional weather. Its primary benefit is the combination of wind resistance and high breathability, allowing for comfortable movement without overheating. While it excels in windy and mild conditions, users should note that this jacket is not seam-sealed or waterproof, meaning it will not provide full protection during heavy downpours.

FAQs

Is this jacket waterproof?

No, it is water-resistant. It will shed light rain thanks to the DWR finish, but it will eventually soak through in heavy or prolonged rain.

Does this jacket have an insulated lining?

No, it is a non-insulated softshell designed for breathability and movement.

Can I wash this in a standard washing machine?

Yes, machine wash in warm water on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent.

How should I choose the right size?

The jacket follows standard youth apparel sizing. Refer to The North Face size guide to measure chest and sleeve length for the most accurate fit.

Is the fabric windproof?

It uses WindWall technology, which is highly wind-resistant, meaning it blocks most wind chill while still allowing enough airflow to prevent moisture buildup.

Troubleshooting

Water starts soaking into the fabric instead of beading up.

The DWR finish may have worn off. Wash the jacket and tumble dry it on low heat to reactivate, or apply a spray-on DWR treatment.

Zipper feels stiff or stuck.

Check for fabric caught in the teeth. Gently clean any debris from the zipper track using a soft brush.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent wind protection for outdoor sports
  • Breathable material prevents overheating during exercise
  • Lightweight design makes it easy to pack into a school bag
  • High-quality construction ensures long-term durability

Cons

  • Not waterproof during heavy or sustained rainfall
  • Lacks an insulated lining for extreme cold temperatures
  • Minimalist design may not feature a hood on all variations

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure your jacket remains in top condition, follow these care guidelines:

  1. Cleaning: Machine wash in warm water using a mild, non-detergent soap. Avoid using fabric softeners as they can strip the DWR coating.
  2. Drying: Tumble dry on low heat. The heat from the dryer actually helps reactivate the DWR finish.
  3. Layering: Wear this as an outer layer in mild conditions or under a larger shell during winter storms.
  4. Storage: Hang the jacket on a sturdy hanger rather than folding it for long periods to preserve the shape and fabric integrity.
