Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
To ensure your KooGa Power SG Rugby Boots perform optimally and last, follow these guidelines.
Setup
- Initial Inspection: Before first use and each subsequent wear, inspect all studs to ensure they are securely fastened. Tighten any loose studs with a stud wrench (often sold separately).
- Lacing: Ensure laces are securely tied, providing a snug but comfortable fit without overtightening. The padded ankle collar should feel supportive, not restrictive.
- Break-In Period: As these boots feature a leather upper, a short break-in period is recommended. Wear them for a few shorter training sessions or light activities before a full match to allow the leather to mold to your foot shape.
Compatibility
- Pitch Type: These boots are primarily designed for Soft Ground (SG) pitches. The metal studs provide optimal grip on natural grass pitches that are wet or muddy. They are generally *not recommended* for firm ground (FG), hard ground (HG), or artificial turf (AG) pitches, as metal studs can cause damage to the pitch and may not offer appropriate traction, potentially increasing injury risk.
- User: Unisex design, suitable for adult rugby players across all positions who require reliable grip and comfort in soft conditions.
Care
- Post-Match Cleaning: After each use, remove all mud and debris from the boots and studs. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the leather upper and a brush to clean the soleplate and studs. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not force dry them with direct heat (e.g., radiators, tumble dryers, direct sunlight), as this can damage the leather and adhesives, leading to cracking or hardening.
- Leather Care: Periodically treat the leather upper with a suitable leather conditioner or balm to keep it supple, prevent cracking, and maintain its water resistance. This will extend the life and comfort of your boots. > Info needed: [Specific leather conditioner recommendation if available].
- Stud Maintenance: Regularly check and tighten the interchangeable metal studs. Replace worn, bent, or damaged studs promptly to maintain optimal grip and prevent injury.
- Storage: Store boots in a cool, dry place, ideally in a boot bag, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
