Product Information

Full details

The Drennan Rigidex 13.0m Deep Water Package is designed for serious match anglers who demand superior stiffness and stability when targeting deep water venues. Its primary benefit is the reduction of tip bounce, even in challenging windy conditions, which directly improves float control and strike speed. A notable caveat is that the pole's emphasis on high-modulus rigidity requires careful handling to prevent damage compared to more flexible, entry-level carbon poles.

FAQs

Does this pole come with a butt extension?

This package includes a reversible No.5/No.6 mini butt for protection and configuration, rather than a full-length extension.

Can I use the Rigidex for carp fishing?

Yes, it is compatible with the 2.4m Carp Kit, though it is specifically optimized for stiffness in deep water match scenarios.

Are the top kits interchangeable?

Yes, the top kits included in the package are designed to be swapped depending on your specific fishing requirement.

How do I maintain the PTFE bushes?

Simply keep them free of dirt and grit by wiping them with a damp cloth after each session.

What is the maximum length of this pole?

The pole achieves a true 13.0m length using the specified kits provided in the package.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty separating pole joints

Clean joints with a dry, lint-free cloth and apply a specialized joint lubricant or maintenance spray.

Tip vibration during wind

Ensure the pole is correctly braced and utilize the shortest kit configuration possible for the current wind conditions.

Elastic sticking in top kit

Check the PTFE bush for debris and ensure the internal elastic is correctly lubricated with an appropriate fluid.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Significantly reduced tip bounce in windy weather
True 13.0m reach options increase fishing versatility
Factory-fitted PTFE bushes ensure immediate performance
Complete package includes essential cupping and transport gear

Cons

High-modulus carbon requires careful handling
Stiff action can feel unforgiving for beginners
Heavy usage requires frequent joint maintenance

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup begins with selecting your preferred configuration: use the 3.0m Match Kit for a direct 13.0m length, or pair the 2.4m Carp Kit with the No.5/No.6 mini butt for a different balance point. The PTFE bushes are pre-installed, so you only need to thread your chosen elastic through the tip sections.

Regarding care, because the Rigidex uses advanced carbon technology, avoid 'shipping' the pole in too quickly, as rapid movement can stress the joints. Regularly wipe down the female and male joints with a dry, soft cloth to remove grit—this is the single most important step to prevent section 'locking' or unnecessary wear. Store the pole sections in the provided compact holdall, ensuring they are dry and not stored under heavy objects that could induce a permanent 'set' or crack the carbon.
