Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting Started
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are snug but not overly tight. The high ankle cuff should feel secure around your ankle without restricting movement. Adjust the lacing system for a personalized fit that prevents heel slip and provides midfoot security.
- Initial Wear: Wear the shoes for short periods initially to allow them to break in and adapt to your foot shape.
- Socks: For optimal comfort and moisture management, pair with technical running socks, especially those designed for trail running or wet conditions.
Compatibility
The Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX is designed as a high-performance adult running shoe. This specific variant is a Men's UK size 11, in a Pink/White/Football Grey colorway. It is available in various other sizes and color combinations, catering to a wide range of runners.
Care and Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and performance of your GORE-TEX running shoes:
- Cleaning: After muddy runs, clean the exterior with lukewarm water and a soft brush or cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a small amount of mild, non-detergent soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or bleach, as these can damage the GORE-TEX membrane.
- Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use direct heat sources like radiators or tumble dryers, as this can damage materials and adhesives. You can stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- GORE-TEX Care: The GORE-TEX membrane is durable, but regular cleaning helps maintain its breathability and waterproof properties. Periodically, you may wish to treat the outer fabric with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray designed for GORE-TEX products to restore its water-shedding capabilities, although this is usually factory-applied and lasts for some time.
