Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Nike Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex shoes is straightforward:
- Sizing: Ensure you have selected the correct UK size 15 for an optimal fit. Try them on with the type of socks you typically wear for trail activities.
- Lacing: Utilize the standard lacing system to achieve a snug, yet comfortable, fit. Experiment with different lacing techniques if you have specific pressure points or foot shapes.
- Break-in Period: While often comfortable out of the box, consider a short break-in period with lighter activities before embarking on long runs or hikes.
Compatibility
These shoes are highly compatible with:
- Activities: Trail running, hiking, walking in varied outdoor conditions.
- Terrain: Dirt trails, gravel paths, light mud, wet grassy areas.
- Weather: Best suited for wet, damp, or muddy conditions where waterproofing is essential.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the lifespan and maintain the performance of your Gore-Tex shoes:
- Cleaning: After use, especially in muddy conditions, gently brush off loose dirt. Use a soft brush or cloth with lukewarm water and a small amount of mild soap (if necessary) to clean the upper and sole.
- Rinsing: Rinse thoroughly with clean water, ensuring no soap residue remains.
- Drying: Air dry only. Remove the insoles and stuff the shoes with newspaper to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the Gore-Tex membrane and adhesives.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Durable Water Repellency (DWR): Over time, the DWR finish on the outer fabric may wear off. If water no longer beads on the surface, you can restore DWR by carefully washing and drying the shoes, or by applying a DWR-restoring treatment specifically designed for Gore-Tex footwear.
