Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the most out of your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Academy FG MG boots involves proper setup, understanding their compatibility, and routine care.
Getting Started
- Try On: When first receiving your boots, ensure they fit snugly but comfortably. Wear football socks during fitting to get an accurate feel.
- Lacing: Lace them up securely, ensuring even pressure across your foot. The NIKESKIN upper will mold to your foot over time for a personalized fit.
- Dual Pull Tabs: Utilize the dual pull tabs located on the collar to easily pull the boots on and off, preventing unnecessary strain on the material.
Compatibility
- Playing Surfaces: These are MultiGround (FG/MG) boots, specifically designed for:
- Firm Ground (FG): Natural grass pitches that are dry or slightly damp.
- Artificial Grass (MG): Modern artificial turf surfaces.
- Not Recommended For:
- Soft Ground (SG): Muddy or very wet natural grass pitches.
- Indoor Courts (IC): Smooth indoor surfaces.
- Street Play (TF): Hard, abrasive street or asphalt surfaces.
Using them on unsuitable surfaces can lead to decreased performance, accelerated wear, or potential injury.
Product Care
Regular care helps maintain performance and extends the lifespan of your boots.
- Cleaning After Each Use:
- Knock off any loose dirt or grass from the soleplate.
- Use a soft brush or old toothbrush to remove debris from between the studs.
- Wipe down the NIKESKIN upper with a damp cloth to remove mud and stains. For tougher marks, use a mild soap solution.
- Avoid harsh chemicals or machine washing, as these can damage the materials and adhesives.
- Drying:
- Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature.
- Do not place them near direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight) as this can cause the material to crack or deform.
- Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain their shape.
- Storage:
- Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Using a boot bag can protect them from dust and scratches.
- Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
