While they feature performance cushioning technology, the 991v2 is primarily designed as a lifestyle trainer for daily use rather than high-mileage performance running.
The 991v2 generally fits true to size for standard adult foot widths, consistent with other New Balance 99X series models.
The v2 version features an upgraded midsole with full-length FuelCell foam and updated Abzorb SBS shock absorption for improved responsiveness compared to the original.
Yes, the provided insoles are removable, allowing for the easy insertion of custom orthotics if required.
No, the trainers are crafted with mesh and leather which are not waterproof; it is recommended to apply a sneaker-safe water repellent spray if you intend to wear them in light rain.
Use cedar shoe trees when not wearing to help the material retain its shape and absorb moisture.
Consider a double-knot or replacing the laces with a slightly more textured alternative if they frequently come undone.
Use a dry toothbrush to gently brush out debris from the mesh pores in a circular motion.
These trainers utilize a standard lace-up closure; for the best support, ensure the laces are threaded through the top eyelets to secure your heel. Since these are made with a mix of leather and mesh, do not machine wash or dry them. Instead, use a soft-bristled brush to remove dry dirt from the mesh and a damp cloth with a mild leather cleaner for the leather overlays. Allow them to air dry away from direct heat sources, such as radiators, which can cause the materials to stiffen or crack.
