Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure your child wears appropriate socks for hiking. Guide their foot into the boot, ensuring the heel is seated comfortably at the back. Begin lacing from the bottom eyelets, pulling snugly but not too tight. Make sure the laces are even. Secure with a double knot at the top to prevent them from coming undone during activity.
- Fit Check: Have your child walk around indoors to ensure a comfortable fit. There should be a small space at the toe (about a thumb's width) and no slipping at the heel.
Compatibility
These junior hiking boots are compatible with a wide range of outdoor activities suitable for children, including:
- Day hikes and nature walks
- Outdoor education and forest school programs
- Casual outdoor play in wet or muddy conditions
- Camping and other family outdoor adventures
They are designed to be worn with hiking or athletic socks for optimal comfort and blister prevention.
Care
Maintaining your Regatta Holcombe IEP Junior Hiking Boots will prolong their life and waterproof performance:
- Cleaning: After use, especially if muddy, wipe the boots clean with a damp cloth or soft brush. Avoid harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners which can damage the waterproof membrane.
- Drying: Allow the boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not place them near direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, fireplaces) as this can damage materials and compromise waterproofing.
- Storage: Store the boots in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight.
- Waterproofing Maintenance (Optional): Over time, the outer fabric's water repellency may diminish. You can restore this using a suitable waterproof treatment spray or liquid designed for synthetic outdoor footwear. Follow the product's instructions carefully.
