The New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5 is a high-performance, ultra-lightweight trainer designed for male runners who prioritize speed, versatility, and responsiveness in their daily training. This shoe excels during tempo runs, speedwork, and race-day efforts, offering a springy ride thanks to its advanced foam blend; however, its minimalist, lightweight construction means it offers less structural support than heavy-duty stability trainers, making it better suited for experienced runners or those seeking a faster-paced shoe.

It is excellent for speed-focused runners, but runners who prefer maximalist cushioning for the full marathon distance might find it a bit too minimalist.
No, the FuelCell Rebel v5 relies on the responsiveness of the PEBA/EVA foam blend rather than a carbon plate, providing a more flexible and natural ride.
Use a soft brush and mild soap with cold water to gently scrub the mesh. Avoid machine washing or harsh detergents, which can damage the fabric fibers.
The Rebel v5 is a neutral running shoe. It is not specifically designed with stability features for significant overpronation.
While intended for running, their lightweight and responsive nature makes them suitable for agility drills, though they may lack the lateral support required for heavy lifting.
While mileage varies based on surface and runner weight, the high-quality FuelCell foam typically provides consistent performance for 300 to 500 miles.
Feet naturally swell during exercise. Ensure you are wearing thinner technical socks and consider lacing the shoes slightly looser across the midfoot.
Clean the rubber tread regularly to remove pebbles or debris that can accelerate surface wear; ensure you are not dragging your feet on uneven road surfaces.
Because the FuelCell Rebel v5 is built with high-performance materials, proper care will extend the life of your investment. Ensure you are selecting your correct UK size for a secure fit. After muddy or wet runs, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth and allow the shoes to air dry naturally; avoid direct heat sources like radiators or tumble dryers, as these can warp the mesh and degrade the foam. To maintain the integrity of the cushioning, rotate your shoes if you run daily, giving the FuelCell foam at least 24 hours to rebound. If you use custom orthotics, the internal footbed is generally removable to accommodate your specific arch support needs.
