Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper preparation and care ensure the best results and longevity for your painted surfaces.
Setup & Preparation
- Clean Surface: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from loose dirt, dust, grease, or flaking paint. Use a stiff brush or jet wash for stubborn areas.
- Remove Loose Material: Scrape off any loose or peeling paint or wood splinters to create a smooth, stable base.
- Priming (for Metal): If painting metal, apply a suitable metal primer first. This is crucial for adhesion and preventing rust.
- Stir Thoroughly: Before and during use, stir the paint well to ensure an even consistency and color distribution.
- Application: Apply with a brush or roller, working in the direction of the grain for wood. Apply thin, even coats.
Compatibility
Ronseal Garden Paint is compatible with a wide range of garden materials, including:
- Wood: Fences, sheds, garden furniture, planters.
- Metal: Gates, railings, metal furniture (requires primer).
- Terracotta: Pots, ornaments.
- Brick: Walls, raised beds, decorative features.

Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning Painted Surfaces: To clean painted surfaces, use a soft cloth with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads that could damage the paint finish.
- Storage: Store any unused paint in its original container, tightly sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and frost. Ensure the lid is clean before resealing to prevent contamination.
- Touch-ups: For minor scuffs or chips, simply clean the affected area and apply a small amount of paint for a quick touch-up.
