Setup, Compatibility & Care
When you receive your 2L potted plant, it should be transplanted into a well-draining soil mix to prevent root rot. If using a container, ensure it has adequate drainage holes.
- Light: Place in a sunny spot; full sun is best for optimal leaf color.
- Watering: Provide regular water while the plant is young or newly planted. Once established, it can tolerate dry spells but should not be left in standing water.
- Feeding: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer during the early spring and again in midsummer to support vigorous growth.
- Winter Care: In colder climates, move container-grown plants into a sheltered area like a greenhouse or shed during deep freezes. For in-ground plants, mulch the base to protect the root system.
- Maintenance: Prune away any damaged or dead leaves in the spring to keep the plant looking tidy.
