Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting started with your HOKA ONE ONE Mafate Speed 2 is straightforward:
- Lacing: Ensure laces are securely tied to provide a snug, comfortable fit without being overly tight, allowing for natural foot flex during running.
- Break-in Period: While HOKA shoes often feel comfortable out of the box, allow for a few shorter runs to fully adapt to the shoe's cushioning and fit before tackling long distances.
Compatibility
- Terrain: Optimally suited for challenging trail conditions, including technical terrain, uneven surfaces, mud, and loose ground. Less ideal for extended road use.
- Foot Type: Designed for neutral runners. The Sculpted Arch Pod Support offers gentle arch reinforcement, accommodating a wide range of neutral foot types.
- Running Style: Ideal for runners seeking a highly cushioned, protective shoe for long-distance trail running, ultramarathons, or high-mileage training on off-road paths.
Care
Proper care extends the life of your trail running shoes:
- Cleaning: After muddy runs, gently brush off loose dirt. Hand wash with mild soap and cold water. Avoid harsh detergents or machine washing, which can damage materials and adhesives.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources (like radiators or direct sunlight), as this can cause materials to shrink or crack.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent odor and mildew.
- Avoid Chemicals: Do not use bleach or other strong chemical cleaners, as they can degrade the shoe's materials.
