Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Karrimor Mount Waterproof Walking Shoes are ready for use right out of the box. Ensure you:
- Lace Properly: Use the full lace-up front to achieve a snug but comfortable fit. Start from the bottom eyelets and work your way up, pulling the laces firmly to eliminate slack without pinching your foot. This ensures optimal support from the FrameFlex Chassis.
- Break-In Period: While comfortable from the start, a short break-in period on shorter walks is recommended to allow the shoes to fully conform to your feet.
Compatibility
- Socks: For best performance, pair these shoes with moisture-wicking hiking socks. Cotton socks retain moisture and can lead to discomfort or blisters, negating the benefit of the Weathertite membrane.
- Terrain: Compatible with various outdoor terrains including forest trails, gravel paths, grassy fields, and light rocky sections. Not designed for extreme mountaineering or heavy duty work.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your shoes:
- Cleaning: After use, especially in muddy conditions, gently brush off loose dirt. For stubborn dirt, wipe the suede leather and textile upper with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: If the shoes get wet, remove insoles (if removable) and air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as this can damage the materials and adhesives, particularly the suede and the waterproof membrane.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Over time, the durable water repellent (DWR) finish on the exterior of the suede and textile may wear off. To maintain optimal waterproofing, periodically apply a suitable waterproofing spray or treatment designed for suede and textile hiking footwear. Follow the product instructions carefully.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight when not in use.
