FAQs

Can I use this grill on a wooden deck?

Yes, provided it is on the included stand, but it is always recommended to place a fire-resistant mat underneath as a safety precaution.

What kind of fuel is recommended?

Lump charcoal is highly recommended for Kamado grills as it burns cleaner and provides better temperature control.

How do I clean the ceramic exterior?

Use a soft cloth with mild soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.

Is it safe to leave the grill outside?

The ceramic is weather-resistant, but using a grill cover will help maintain the finish and keep the internal components dry.

Can I bake bread in this grill?

Absolutely. Because it holds heat so well, it functions very similarly to a stone bread oven.

Do I need to season the grill?

The interior does not require seasoning like cast iron, but the initial burn-in process is essential for the gasket seal.

Troubleshooting

Temperature is too high and won't drop

Close both the top and bottom vents to restrict oxygen flow until the heat dissipates.

Food is sticking to the grill grate

Ensure the grate is preheated properly and lightly oiled before placing food on the surface.

Grill is not maintaining heat

Check that the fire bowl is not overfilled with ash and ensure the charcoal is lit consistently throughout the firebox.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Excellent heat retention for professional-quality results
Extremely versatile; functions as a grill, smoker, and oven
Space-saving design ideal for balconies and small patios
Highly fuel-efficient due to insulated ceramic construction

Cons

Limited cooking surface area compared to full-sized grills
Ceramic material requires careful handling to prevent cracking
Heavy to transport despite the portable form factor

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your Alivio Kamado, ensure it is placed on a flat, heat-resistant surface using the included stand. Before the first use, perform a 'burn-in' by heating the grill at a low temperature for an hour to cure the seal. For cleaning, allow the ashes to cool completely before removing them via the bottom slider. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and ensure the lid is latched securely when not in use. While the ceramic is durable, always avoid dropping the lid or striking the unit against hard surfaces. If the grill will be exposed to wet weather, it is recommended to use a protective cover.
