Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & Adjustments
- Hood Adjustment: Utilize the adjusters on the grown-on technical hood to cinch it snugly around your head, providing maximum protection from wind and rain while maintaining visibility.
- Cuff Adjustment: Tighten or loosen the adjustable cuffs to prevent water from running down your arms and to seal in warmth.
- Hem Adjustment: Use the shock cord hem to tighten the jacket around your waist, helping to keep out drafts and prevent the jacket from riding up during activity.
Compatibility
- Designed For: Adult males.
- Material: Made from 100% recycled polyester, compatible with typical outdoor layering systems.
- Layering: This jacket is designed as an outer shell. For optimal comfort in colder conditions, wear moisture-wicking base layers and insulating mid-layers underneath.
Care Instructions
Proper care is crucial for maintaining the performance and longevity of your Birchdale II jacket.
- Cleaning:
- Close all zippers and fastenings before washing.
- Machine wash cold (typically 30°C / 86°F) on a gentle cycle with a technical wash specific for waterproof/breathable fabrics. Do not use conventional detergents, fabric softeners, or bleach, as these can clog the fabric's pores and impair breathability and DWR.
- Info needed: Specific washing temperature and cycle for Isotex 15000 fabric from manufacturer.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all detergent residue.
- Drying:
- Hang dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat or sunlight.
- Info needed: If tumble drying is permitted on low heat to reactivate DWR.
- DWR Re-application: Over time, the durable water-repellent finish may wear off, causing the fabric to 'wet out.' Reapply a spray-on or wash-in DWR treatment specifically designed for waterproof breathable fabrics when water no longer beads up on the surface.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, ideally hung up, to maintain its shape and fabric integrity.
