Product Information

Full details

The Altura Kielder Trail Gloves are designed for mountain bikers seeking a balance between tactile feedback and protection. These unisex, long-fingered gloves prioritize grip and breathability through a minimalist palm design and perforated materials, making them ideal for technical trail riding where bar feel is paramount. While they offer excellent dexterity, riders should note that the minimal padding means they are better suited for shorter, more aggressive rides rather than long-distance touring where heavy cushioning might be preferred.

FAQs

Are these gloves touch-screen compatible?

While the gloves are designed for tactile feedback, they do not feature specific touch-screen conductive threads.

Are these suitable for winter riding?

These are primarily designed for breathability and trail feel; they are not insulated and are best for mild to warm weather conditions.

How do I determine my size?

Measure the circumference of your dominant hand just below the knuckles; match this against the Altura sizing guide provided by the retailer.

Can I machine wash these gloves?

It is highly recommended to hand wash these to preserve the silicone grip and the integrity of the perforated materials.

Are these gloves gender-specific?

The Altura Kielder Trail Gloves are designed as a unisex fit, accommodating a wide range of hand shapes.

Troubleshooting

Gloves feel slippery on the grips

Wash the gloves to remove any oils, dirt, or sweat residue that may have accumulated on the Amara palm and silicone prints.

Stitching irritation between fingers

Ensure the gloves are sized correctly for your hand; if the gloves are too tight, the fabric will pull excessively, causing discomfort at the seams.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent tactile feedback due to minimal palm padding
  • High breathability from the perforated Amara palm material
  • Secure fit with comfortable neoprene cuffs
  • Enhanced braking confidence from silicone finger grips
  • Stylish aesthetic with sublimated backhand graphics

Cons

  • Minimalist palm design may not suit riders seeking significant vibration dampening
  • Long-fingered design may feel warm on exceptionally hot days
  • Not intended for heavy-duty winter weather protection

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Altura Kielder Trail Gloves, proper fit and maintenance are essential. When putting them on, insert your hand through the neoprene cuff; the material is designed to stretch slightly to create a secure seal. Avoid overstretching the cuff seams.

Care Instructions:

  • Cleaning: Hand wash in cool water using a mild soap. Avoid harsh detergents or fabric softeners, as these can degrade the silicone grip and technical fabrics.
  • Drying: Air dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or heat sources, which can cause the suede-like material to harden.
  • Storage: Store flat or hung in a dry location to maintain the shape of the neoprene cuff.
