The Craghoppers Compresslite IX Hooded Insulating Jacket is a versatile, down-like layer designed for adult hikers and outdoor enthusiasts who need reliable mid-level warmth that doesn't compromise on packability. Its primary benefit is the innovative, super-compressible design that allows it to pack into its own stow bag, making it an ideal "just-in-case" layer for trail use; however, it is specifically engineered for mid-level insulation and may not be sufficient for extreme sub-zero conditions without additional layering.

The jacket features a water-repellent H2OShield finish, which resists light rain and water-based stains, but it is not waterproof for heavy rain or prolonged exposure.
The jacket is designed to fold or stuff directly into its integrated pocket or provided stow bag; simply turn the pocket inside out and push the jacket inside.
Yes, its low-profile baffle design makes it an excellent mid-layer to wear under a larger waterproof or windproof shell jacket.
The hood features elasticated binding around the face, ensuring a snug fit that stays in place in windy conditions without needing manual adjustment cords.
Machine wash on a cool, gentle cycle with mild detergent. Do not bleach or iron, and air dry to preserve the synthetic insulation.
Give the jacket a thorough shake and let it hang in a warm, dry area for a few hours to allow the synthetic fibers to regain their loft.
The H2OShield treatment may have worn off; apply a garment-safe water-repellent spray (DWR) and follow the manufacturer's reactivation instructions.
To maximize the life of your jacket, ensure you follow standard care procedures. Because of the synthetic insulation, avoid heavy wringing when wet. When the jacket is not in use, it is best to store it hanging in a dry closet rather than permanently stored in its compressed stuff sack, as this helps maintain the loft of the insulation over time. To clean, use a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and ensure the jacket is thoroughly dried, ideally by air-drying. The jacket is designed to be worn over a base layer and under a waterproof shell for complete environmental protection in harsh conditions.
