FAQs
Are the Salomon XT-6 GORE-TEX suitable for everyday wear?
Yes, while designed for performance, their durable construction and GORE-TEX technology make them suitable for everyday use, especially in urban environments or unpredictable weather.
How do I adjust the Quicklace system?
Pull the laces tight with one hand using the toggle. Tuck the excess lace into the tongue pocket. To loosen, pull the toggle outwards.
Will my feet get hot in these shoes?
The mesh upper is designed for breathability. While the GORE-TEX membrane provides waterproofing, it also allows some vapor to escape, helping to manage temperature. However, in very warm conditions, breathability might be less than non-waterproof shoes.
How often should I clean my XT-6 GORE-TEX shoes?
Clean your shoes after particularly muddy or dirty use. Regular light cleaning with a damp cloth is recommended to maintain material integrity.
What is the main difference between XT-6 and XT-6 GORE-TEX?
The primary difference is the inclusion of a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane in the XT-6 GORE-TEX, offering superior protection against water and elements compared to the standard XT-6.
Can I put these shoes in a washing machine?
It is not recommended to machine wash the Salomon XT-6 GORE-TEX shoes, as this can damage the materials, adhesives, and the waterproof membrane. Hand washing with mild soap and water is the preferred method.
Troubleshooting
Laces not tightening evenly
Ensure the Quicklace system is clean and free of debris. Try loosening the laces completely and re-tightening slowly, ensuring an even pull.
Feet feel wet despite GORE-TEX
Check for obvious tears or damage to the shoe upper or GORE-TEX membrane. Ensure laces are fully tightened to prevent water entry from the top. If the shoe is soaked, allow it to dry completely as the membrane may be compromised by prolonged saturation.
Slipping on smooth surfaces
The rubber outsole is designed for varied terrain; performance on highly polished indoor surfaces may be reduced. Clean the outsole to remove any mud or debris that could impair grip.
Discomfort or blisters
Ensure the correct size is selected. Adjust the Quicklace system for a secure but not overly tight fit. Wear with appropriate moisture-wicking socks. Break in the shoes with shorter walks before undertaking long distances.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Out of the box, the Salomon XT-6 GORE-TEX is ready for use. Ensure the Quicklace system is adjusted to your comfort level by pulling the lace lock. The excess lace can be stored in the small pocket on the tongue.
Compatibility:
These shoes are designed for unisex adult use and are compatible with most standard hiking and running socks. They are suitable for trail running, hiking, and general outdoor activities.
Care Instructions:
- Cleaning: Clean with a soft brush and lukewarm water. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap and rinse thoroughly. Avoid using harsh detergents or solvents.
- Drying: Allow shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not place near direct heat sources like radiators or fires, as this can damage the materials and the GORE-TEX membrane.
- Waterproofing Maintenance: Periodically, you may wish to reapply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment to the upper to maintain water repellency, following the product's specific instructions. The GORE-TEX membrane itself does not require reapplication.
