Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are snug but not overtight. Use all eyelets for maximum security, especially on technical trails. Experiment with different lacing patterns to find the most comfortable fit for your foot shape.
- Break-In: While comfortable out of the box, consider a few shorter runs before tackling a long trail race. This allows the shoes to mold to your feet and ensures there are no pressure points.
Compatibility
These shoes are designed for trail running and are compatible with standard running socks. For optimal performance in wet conditions, pair them with moisture-wicking socks to manage internal sweat.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care extends the life of your trail shoes and maintains their performance:
- Cleaning: After muddy runs, gently brush off loose dirt. Use a soft brush or cloth with mild soap and cold water to clean the upper and outsole. Avoid harsh detergents or hot water, as these can damage materials and waterproofing.
- Drying: Always air dry your shoes at room temperature. Remove insoles and loosen laces to allow air circulation. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, which can cause materials to shrink or crack.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
- Waterproofing: While Gore-Tex is durable, periodic re-treatment with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray designed for footwear can help maintain the outer fabric's water repellency, preventing it from soaking through.
