Product Information

Full details

The Regatta Fenton Softshell Trouser is designed for adult men seeking a blend of lightweight comfort and utility for outdoor activities like hiking, travel, and everyday wear. These trousers offer the key benefit of enhanced mobility through stretch fabric and reliable protection against wind and light moisture. While they are highly versatile for active use, it is important to note that they are water-resistant rather than fully waterproof, meaning they may require additional shell layers during heavy rain.

FAQs

Are these trousers waterproof?

They are water-resistant, meaning they protect against light rain, but they are not fully waterproof and will soak through in heavy, continuous rain.

Can I use these for winter mountaineering?

They are suitable for general outdoor walking, but for extreme winter conditions, you may need a heavier weight trouser or a waterproof overtrouser.

What is the material composition?

The trousers are primarily made from high-quality polyester, chosen for its durability and moisture-wicking properties.

How do I ensure I order the correct size?

Measure your natural waistline and compare it to the UK size guide provided; the elasticated waist offers some wiggle room for comfort.

Are there enough pockets for my gear?

The Fenton design includes multiple functional pockets designed to hold small everyday carry items securely while moving.

Troubleshooting

Water no longer beads on the surface

The DWR finish has likely worn off. Wash the trousers to remove dirt and apply a specialized re-proofing spray.

Fit feels too loose around the waist

The partially elasticated waist provides flexibility; if the fit is too loose, ensure you are wearing a standard utility belt to secure the fit.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent freedom of movement due to stretch material
  • Effective windproofing for varied weather conditions
  • Comfortable fit provided by the partially elasticated waist
  • Lightweight construction suitable for all-day wear
  • Water-resistant finish for light rain protection

Cons

  • Not intended for heavy downpours or sustained wet conditions
  • Specific sizing needs careful checking against the size guide
  • Design is purely functional and may not suit formal settings

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Regatta Fenton Trousers, follow these care guidelines:

  1. Cleaning: Machine wash on a gentle cycle using mild detergent. Avoid fabric softeners as they can strip the water-repellent treatment.
  2. Drying: Air dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators to prevent damage to the elastic fibers.
  3. Re-proofing: If you notice water no longer beads off the surface after several months of use, apply a standard DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray to restore performance.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture buildup in the fabric.
