Setup, Compatibility & Care
Surface Preparation
Proper preparation is key to the longevity and appearance of your paintwork. Ensure all surfaces are:
- Clean: Remove all dirt, grease, and loose material. Use a suitable degreaser if necessary.
- Dry: Allow surfaces to dry completely before painting.
- Sound: Scrape off any flaking or peeling paint. Sand smooth any rough areas or previous paint finishes. For bare metal, an appropriate rust-inhibiting primer may be beneficial.
Compatibility
This paint is specifically formulated for exterior metal and wood surfaces. It is not intended for interior use. Its solvent-based nature means it will adhere well to properly prepared surfaces of these material types.
Application Instructions
- Stir Thoroughly: Before and during use, stir the paint well to ensure an even consistency and colour.
- Apply with Brush: Use a good quality brush for application. Apply in thin, even coats, following the grain of the wood where applicable.
- Drying & Recoat: Allow 16 hours for the paint to dry before applying a second coat, if needed. Drying times can vary based on temperature and humidity.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning Tools: As this is a solvent-based paint, clean brushes immediately after use with white spirit or a proprietary brush cleaner.
- Surface Cleaning: To maintain the gloss finish and protective qualities, gently clean painted surfaces with a mild detergent and water when necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the paint in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and frost, with the lid tightly sealed.
