Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
To ensure optimal comfort and longevity for your Birkenstock Arizona sandals, follow these guidelines.
Setup & Initial Adjustment
- Unbuckle Straps: Before putting them on, fully unbuckle both straps.
- Slide Foot In: Place your foot into the sandal, ensuring your heel sits snugly in the heel cup and your toes are within the raised toe bar.
- Adjust Straps: Fasten the straps so they are comfortable but secure. You should be able to slip one finger underneath the strap, but your foot should not slide around. The straps should hold your foot gently to the footbed.
- Walk and Re-adjust: Walk a few steps. If the straps feel too loose or too tight, re-adjust them. The goal is a firm, comfortable fit that allows the footbed to fully support your foot's arch and toes.
Compatibility
- Gender: Unisex design, suitable for all adults.
- Foot Width: Features a "Regular" shoe width, which is equivalent to a medium-to-wide fit. Individuals with very narrow feet might find them a bit roomy, even with strap adjustments.
- Usage: Ideal for casual, everyday wear. Not recommended for strenuous sports or activities requiring full foot enclosure and ankle support.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning the Upper (Synthetic): Wipe the synthetic upper with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals. Allow to air dry completely, away from direct heat.
- Cleaning the Footbed (Suede Lining): For light dirt, brush the suede lining gently with a suede brush. For deeper cleaning, use a specialized cork-friendly cleaning solution. Apply a small amount, scrub gently with a brush, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Allow to air dry completely.
- Cork Footbed Care: To protect the cork from drying out and cracking, regularly apply a thin layer of Birkenstock Cork Sealer (or a similar product) to the exposed cork edges. This is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the footbed.
- Sole Care (EVA): The EVA sole can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, which can cause the sole to shrink or warp.
- Avoid Extreme Conditions: Do not leave sandals in direct sunlight for extended periods (e.g., in a hot car), as this can damage the cork and EVA materials. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, as it can degrade the cork and leather. If they get wet, let them air dry naturally, away from direct heat sources.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
