No, Birkenstock Arizona sandals, particularly with a cork footbed and suede lining, are not designed to be waterproof. Prolonged exposure to water can damage the cork and adhesives. It's best to avoid wearing them in heavy rain or wet conditions.
Birkenstock sizes typically run true to size, but it's important to measure your foot and refer to a Birkenstock sizing chart. Your foot should rest comfortably within the footbed, with a few millimeters of space in front of your toes and behind your heel.
The 'Regular' width is designed to fit average to slightly wider feet. Birkenstock also offers a 'Narrow' width for narrower feet, but this specific product is in 'Regular' width.
Birkenstock offers repair services for resoling and cork repair. Replacing the entire footbed is generally not possible as it is integral to the sandal's construction. Contact an authorized Birkenstock repair center for specific options.
Yes, there is typically a break-in period. The contoured cork footbed needs time to mold to the unique shape of your feet. We recommend wearing them for short periods initially and gradually increasing wear time.
For the synthetic upper, simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth. For tougher dirt, use a small amount of mild soap diluted in water, gently clean the area, and then wipe with a clean damp cloth to remove any soap residue. Air dry thoroughly.
Birkenstock footbeds have a break-in period. Wear them for short durations (1-2 hours) initially, gradually increasing wear time as the footbed molds to your foot. This process can take a few weeks.
Adjust the metal buckles on both straps. They are designed to allow for a custom fit. Ensure your foot is secure but not constricted, with a little space for movement.
This often occurs during the break-in period or if straps are too tight/loose. Re-adjust straps for an optimal fit. If it persists, ensure your feet are properly centered in the footbed. Wearing socks for the initial break-in period can also help.
Allow your sandals to air out regularly after wearing. For persistent odors, gently wipe the footbed with a damp cloth moistened with a mild soap solution and allow to air dry completely. Some users also use baking soda sparingly to absorb odors.
Use a soft-bristled suede brush to gently brush the lining, lifting any matted fibers and removing surface dirt. For deeper stains, a specialized suede cleaner can be applied following product instructions.
