Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- First Wear: Before your first match or intense training, wear your new PUMA King Ultimate cleats around the house for a few hours. This helps the material mold to your foot and accelerates the break-in process.
- Lacing: Ensure your laces are tied securely but not overly tight. A snug, locked-in fit is crucial for performance and comfort. Experiment with different lacing patterns if you experience pressure points.
- Socks: Wear the same type of football socks you intend to use during games to get an accurate feel for the fit.
Compatibility
These cleats feature a versatile FG/AG soleplate, making them suitable for:
- Firm Ground (FG): Natural grass pitches that are firm but not hard or dry.
- Artificial Grass (AG): Modern synthetic turf fields with longer blades and rubber infill. They are *not* recommended for older 1G or 2G astroturf pitches, which typically require multi-ground (MG) or specific astroturf (TF) soles.
Care
Proper care extends the life and performance of your cleats:
- Immediate Cleaning: After each use, wipe off excess mud and dirt from the upper and soleplate using a damp cloth or soft brush. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution.
- Stud Cleaning: Pay special attention to cleaning between the studs to prevent dirt buildup, which can affect grip.
- Drying: Never dry your cleats near direct heat sources (like radiators or in direct sunlight), as this can damage the material and cause cracking. Instead, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and maintain their shape, then air dry at room temperature.
- Storage: Store your cleats in a cool, dry place, ideally in a boot bag to protect them from dust and damage.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh detergents, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can degrade the premium upper material.
- Deodorizing: To combat odors, you can use shoe deodorizers or baking soda sachets when storing them.
