Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the best results from your D-C-Fix Self Adhesive Film involves proper preparation, careful application, and simple maintenance.
Setup Instructions
- Prepare the Surface: Ensure the surface is perfectly smooth, clean, and dry. Remove any dust, grease, or loose particles. For best adhesion, lightly sand any very glossy surfaces and wipe clean.
- Measure and Cut: Measure the area you intend to cover, adding a slight overhang (about 2-3 cm) on all sides for trimming. Use the grid lines on the backing paper for precise cutting with sharp scissors or a utility knife.
- Initial Application: Peel back about 5-10 cm of the backing paper from one edge. Align the exposed adhesive edge of the film with the top edge of your surface.
- Apply and Smooth: Slowly and gradually peel off the backing paper with one hand, while using a squeegee or a soft cloth to smooth the film onto the surface with your other hand. Work from the center outwards to push out any air bubbles.
- Trim Excess: Once the film is fully applied, use a utility knife to carefully trim any excess film along the edges for a neat finish.
Compatibility
- Surfaces: Compatible with all smooth, non-porous surfaces. This includes laminate, wood, metal, glass, and painted surfaces that are clean and dry. Not recommended for textured, rough, or porous surfaces like unfinished wood or stucco, as adhesion may be compromised.
- Environment: Primarily designed for indoor use. Its `heat resistance` is rated up to 75°C, so avoid direct contact with very hot items (e.g., hot pans directly from the stove) which could exceed this limit.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: The film is `wipe clean`. Use a damp cloth and mild household cleaner to remove dirt or spills. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the surface finish.
- Durability: While durable, avoid sharp objects that could scratch or puncture the film. Treat it as you would any finely finished surface to maximize its lifespan.
