Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup & Fit
- Adjust the Strap: Before wearing, adjust the metal pin buckle to ensure the strap holds your foot gently but securely. There should be a small gap between your foot and the strap, allowing for natural movement without your foot slipping out when walking. Ensure your heel sits comfortably within the heel cup.
- Break-In Period: Birkenstock footbeds are designed to mold to your feet. Expect a short break-in period (typically a few days to a couple of weeks of intermittent wear). During this time, the cork will soften and adapt, leading to personalized comfort. Wear them for shorter periods initially, gradually increasing wear time.
Compatibility
These clogs are suitable for adult males, UK size 10.5, offering a comfortable fit for a wide range of foot types due to the adjustable strap and molding footbed.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the appearance of your Boston Clogs:
- Oiled Nubuck Leather Upper: Periodically clean the leather with a soft brush to remove dirt. For scuffs or dryness, use a specialized nubuck/suede conditioner or protector. Avoid harsh chemicals. The oiled finish means minor scratches can often be rubbed out with your finger.
- Cork Footbed: To prevent the cork from drying out and cracking, apply a thin layer of Birkenstock Cork Sealer once or twice a year, especially if they are frequently exposed to moisture or dry conditions.
- Suede Footbed Lining: If the suede becomes matted or dirty, gently brush it with a suede brush to restore its nap and remove debris. For stains, use a damp cloth with mild soap, being careful not to saturate the cork.
- EVA Sole: The EVA sole is durable but can wear over time. Clean with a damp cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, as this can deform the EVA material (e.g., leaving them in direct sunlight in a hot car).
- General Care: Store your clogs away from direct sunlight and heat when not in use. Avoid submerging them in water.
