Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper care and initial setup will ensure your Clarks Torhill Rise Ankle Boots provide lasting comfort and style.
Initial Setup
- Lacing: When first putting on your boots, ensure the laces are threaded evenly through all eyelets. Adjust the lacing tension from bottom to top for a snug yet comfortable fit around your foot and ankle.
- First Wear: Wear your boots for shorter periods initially to allow the nubuck upper and footbed to mould to your feet. This helps prevent discomfort and ensures a perfect fit over time.
- Check Fit: Your toes should have wiggle room, and your heel should feel secure without excessive slipping.
Compatibility & Styling
- Seasonality: Designed for year-round wear, these boots are highly adaptable. Their medium brown colour family pairs well with a broad palette.
- Clothing: They complement various casual and smart-casual attire. Think denim, corduroy, wool trousers, or flowy midi skirts and dresses.
- Accessories: Can be styled with socks that peek out from the top, or with tights for a more seamless look with dresses.
Product Care & Maintenance
The nubuck upper requires specific care to maintain its appearance and prolong its life.
- Protection: Before first wear, and periodically thereafter, treat the nubuck with a high-quality water and stain protector spray designed specifically for nubuck and suede. This creates a barrier against moisture and dirt.
- Cleaning:
- For light dirt or dust, use a nubuck brush (a soft rubber or brass wire brush) to gently brush off particles in one direction.
- For stubborn marks or scuffs, use a specialized nubuck eraser to rub away the mark. Follow up with the nubuck brush to restore the nap.
- For wet stains, allow the boots to air dry naturally away from direct heat. Once dry, use a nubuck brush and eraser.
- Conditioning: Use a nubuck conditioner or renovator periodically to keep the leather soft and prevent it from drying out.
- Drying: If your boots get wet, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture and maintain their shape. Allow them to air dry completely at room temperature, away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can damage the nubuck.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. Using shoe trees can help maintain their shape and absorb moisture when not in use.
