Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation: Ensure all wooden surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, and previous coatings. Sand lightly if necessary and remove all dust. For bare wood, apply at least two coats of Sadolin Classic Wood Protection. If the wood is new and has not been treated before, it is recommended to use a suitable wood preservative as a pre-treatment.
Application: Stir the product thoroughly before use. Apply evenly with a brush. For large surfaces like decking or cladding, a long-handled brush or roller can be used. Apply in the direction of the wood grain. Avoid applying in direct sunlight, during very cold or humid conditions, or if rain is imminent.
Compatibility: This product is ideal as a base coat before applying Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain for enhanced protection on exterior surfaces. It is also designed as a base coat for interior wooden floors before polyurethane varnish application.
Care: Clean application tools immediately after use with a suitable solvent (e.g., white spirit). For the treated surface, maintenance typically involves cleaning with a mild detergent and water. Periodically inspect the wood and reapply a coat of Sadolin Classic Wood Protection or Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain as needed, usually every 1-3 years depending on exposure, to maintain optimal protection.
