Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Rockie Walk GORE-TEX shoes are ready to wear right out of the box. Simply lace them up to a comfortable, snug fit that supports your foot without feeling restrictive. The leather may feel slightly stiff initially, but it will soften and mold to your foot shape after a few wears.
Compatibility
These versatile shoes are compatible with a wide range of clothing styles. They pair well with:
- Casual Wear: Jeans, chinos, and casual trousers.
- Smart Casual: Khakis, cords, and slightly dressier slacks.
- Outdoor Attire: Hiking trousers for light trails or waterproof jackets.
For optimal GORE-TEX performance, wear socks made from synthetic or wool materials that wick moisture away from your feet. Avoid cotton socks in wet conditions, as they retain moisture.
Care Instructions
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the waterproof integrity of your Rockie Walk GORE-TEX shoes:
- Cleaning: Remove loose dirt with a soft brush. For stubborn mud, use a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a specialized leather cleaner appropriate for dark tan leather. Always follow the cleaner's instructions.
- Drying: If wet, remove insoles and stuff the shoes with newspaper to absorb moisture. Air dry them naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources (like radiators or direct sunlight), which can damage the leather and GORE-TEX membrane.
- Conditioning: Regularly apply a high-quality leather conditioner or cream to keep the leather supple and prevent drying or cracking. Ensure the product is suitable for `smooth leather` and will not clog the leather's pores, which could affect breathability. Always test on an inconspicuous area first.
- Waterproofing Boost: While GORE-TEX provides inherent waterproofing, applying a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray designed for GORE-TEX and leather footwear can help maintain the outer leather's water repellency, preventing it from saturating.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Use shoe trees to help maintain their shape and absorb moisture when not in use.
