Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Your Rockie Walk GORE-TEX shoes require no complex setup. Simply put them on and adjust the laces for a comfortable, secure fit. We recommend wearing them for short periods initially to allow the leather to soften and adapt to your foot's unique shape.
Compatibility
These shoes are designed for versatility. They pair well with a range of attire from casual jeans and chinos to more smart-casual trousers. Their robust design and weather protection make them suitable for diverse environments, including city streets, office settings (where appropriate), and light country walks.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the performance of your Rockie Walk GORE-TEX shoes:
- Cleaning the Leather Upper: Regularly wipe down the dark tan leather with a damp, soft cloth to remove dirt and dust. For stubborn marks, use a specialized leather cleaner appropriate for the leather type. Always test cleaners on an inconspicuous area first.
- Conditioning the Leather: To keep the leather supple and prevent drying or cracking, apply a quality leather conditioner every few weeks or as needed. This will help maintain its appearance and durability.
- GORE-TEX Membrane Care: The GORE-TEX membrane is integrated into the shoe. Do not use oil-based products directly on the membrane as this can affect its breathability. Ensure the outer leather is clean and treated, as this protects the underlying membrane.
- Drying: If your shoes get wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight, as these can damage the leather and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Using shoe trees can help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
- Outsole Maintenance: Periodically check the rubber outsole for embedded debris and clean it to maintain optimal grip.
