These bulbs should be planted in the autumn for the best results.
Plant the bulbs at a depth of approximately 10cm.
Yes, they are excellent for patio containers, provided the pots have good drainage.
Carefully remove the three orange-red stigmas from the center of the purple flowers once they open, then dry them thoroughly.
They require well-drained soil to prevent the bulbs from rotting.
The plants reach a height of approximately 15cm and a spread of about 5cm.
Check soil drainage; waterlogged soil often leads to bulb dormancy or rot.
Ensure bulbs are spaced correctly and receiving enough sunlight to build energy for the next season.
Harvest the stigmas as soon as the flower fully opens in the morning to capture them at their peak.
For the best results, plant the bulbs in the autumn season at a depth of approximately 10cm. Ensure the chosen site features well-drained soil to prevent moisture accumulation, which can cause the bulbs to decay. The plants thrive in full sun or light semi-shade. If using containers, ensure the pots have adequate drainage holes. During the growing season, keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Once the foliage dies back after the flowering period, the bulbs can be left in the ground or removed and stored in a cool, dry location until the following planting cycle.
