Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Unpack Your Sandals: Remove your new Birkenstock Gizeh sandals from their packaging.
- Adjust the Strap: Place your foot into the sandal. Use the metal pin buckle on the upper strap to adjust for a comfortable yet secure fit. Ensure your foot is centered on the footbed with a small gap in front of your toes and behind your heel. Your toes should not touch the front rim, and your heel should not overlap the back rim.
- Break-in Period: Birkenstock sandals may feel firm at first. Wear them for short periods initially (1-2 hours) and gradually increase wear time over several days to allow the cork-latex footbed to mold to the unique contours of your feet.
Compatibility
These sandals are designed for adult females with a UK size 5.5 foot. The Regular Fit offers a roomy, wide fit, which is suitable for standard to wider feet. They are ideal for casual wear, complementing a variety of outfits from shorts and dresses to jeans.
Care
- Cleaning the Birko-Flor® Upper: Wipe the upper material with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals. Let air dry away from direct sunlight or heat.
- Cleaning the Suede Footbed Lining: Gently brush the footbed with a suede brush to remove dirt and refresh the nap. For stubborn stains, a specialized suede cleaner can be used, following the product instructions. Avoid saturating the cork footbed with water.
- Cork Footbed Protection: To prolong the life of the cork, apply a thin layer of cork sealer periodically, especially if the cork appears dry or cracked. This protects it from moisture and wear.
- EVA Sole Care: The EVA sole can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Avoid extreme heat, as it can deform the EVA material.
- Storage: Store your sandals in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Avoid Water Submersion: While the EVA sole offers some protection, the cork-latex footbed is not designed for prolonged water exposure (e.g., swimming, heavy rain), as it can damage the materials.
