Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup & Fit:
Your Birkenstock Gizeh sandals come ready to wear. Initially, the footbed may feel firm; this is normal. Allow a *break-in period* of a few days to a couple of weeks, wearing them for short periods first, to allow the footbed to soften and mold to your unique foot shape. The adjustable buckle on the strap should be fastened snugly, but not too tight, to keep your foot secure without restricting circulation. These sandals feature a *Regular Fit*, providing a roomy and wide fitting.
Care & Maintenance:
To maintain the longevity and appearance of your leather Birkenstock Gizeh sandals:
- Cleaning the Upper: For the leather upper, clean with a *damp cloth* to remove dirt and dust. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Footbed Care: Regularly wipe the footbed with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, specialized Birkenstock cleaning kits are available. Allow the footbed to air dry completely away from direct heat.
- Drying: If your sandals get wet, allow them to air dry slowly, away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources, as extreme heat can damage the cork and leather.
- Storage: Store them in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Avoid Excessive Water: While durable, the leather and cork materials are not designed for prolonged water immersion.
Compatibility:
These sandals are designed for general casual wear and warmer climates. They are suitable for most foot types, especially those who appreciate ample toe room and arch support. Compatible with a variety of casual outfits, from shorts and dresses to jeans.
