Full details

The ASICS Gel-Cumulus 27 is a premium neutral road running shoe designed for runners seeking maximum shock absorption and a plush, comfortable ride during daily training or long-distance runs. Engineered with advanced cushioning technologies like PureGEL and FF BLAST PLUS, these trainers excel at providing a smooth transition and reducing joint impact, though runners needing high-stability support for overpronation may find the neutral design less suitable.

FAQs

Is this a stability shoe?

No, the Gel-Cumulus 27 is categorized as a neutral running shoe designed for runners without severe overpronation issues.

What is the heel-to-toe drop?

The shoe features an 8 mm drop, with 38.5 mm at the heel and 30.5 mm at the forefoot.

Can I use these for trail running?

These are road running shoes. While they can handle light gravel paths, they are not designed for technical, rocky, or muddy terrain.

How often should I replace them?

It is generally recommended to replace running shoes every 300-500 miles, depending on your running surface and body weight.

Are the insoles removable?

Yes, the OrthoLite X-30 insole is removable, allowing you to swap it for custom medical orthotics.

How should I clean the white/beige mesh?

Use a soft brush and a mixture of mild soap and water to gently scrub the mesh. Avoid bleach or harsh detergents.

Troubleshooting

Heel slippage while running

Try a 'runner's loop' or heel lock lacing technique using the top eyelet to secure the fit around the ankle.

Upper mesh shows wear in the toe box

Ensure your toenails are trimmed short and check that you are wearing the correct size to prevent excessive pressure against the fabric.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Lightweight build prevents leg fatigue
Smooth transition from heel to toe
Highly breathable upper materials

Beige/Yellow colorway may show dirt easily on trails

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To get the most out of your Gel-Cumulus 27 trainers, ensure you have the correct size and allow for a brief break-in period of 10-20 miles to let the cushioning adapt to your foot strike. These shoes are compatible with orthotic inserts should you need them, though the stock OrthoLite X-30 insole is quite supportive on its own. For care, keep the shoes away from high-heat sources like radiators or dryers, as this can degrade the foam. Clean them by wiping with a damp cloth and mild soap; avoid fully submerging them in a washing machine. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight to maintain the integrity of the materials.
