Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon first use, gently loosen the lacing system, insert your foot, and then tighten the laces evenly from toe to ankle. Ensure a snug, secure fit without being uncomfortably tight. A short break-in period during light training sessions may be beneficial to adapt the boots to your foot shape.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically designed for Firm Ground (FG) surfaces. This means they are optimized for natural grass pitches that are firm and relatively dry.
- Optimal Use: Natural grass, firm conditions.
- Avoid Using On:
- Artificial Grass (AG): Can cause excessive wear to the studs and boot upper, and may not provide optimal traction.
- Soft Ground (SG): The FG studs may not penetrate sufficiently, leading to poor traction and stability.
- Indoor Courts (IC) / Street: Not designed for these surfaces.
Care
Proper care extends the life and performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, remove loose dirt with a soft brush or damp cloth. For tougher stains, use a mild soap solution and a soft sponge. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Drying: Allow boots to air dry naturally at room temperature. Do not expose them to direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight) as this can damage the materials. Stuffing them with newspaper can help absorb moisture and maintain shape.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Using a boot bag can protect them from scuffs and dust.
- Inspection: Regularly check laces, studs, and seams for wear and tear. Replace laces if frayed.
Remember, consistent care ensures your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots maintain their elite performance properties.
